HVACR General Manager

Duties

• Lead and manage daily operations across multiple departments, including construction projects, property maintenance, and field service teams.
• Develop strategic plans to enhance service quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee project planning and execution, ensuring compliance with safety standards and building codes.
• Coordinate with service technicians to troubleshoot HVAC/R systems, refrigeration units (including ammonia refrigeration), boilers, and other mechanical equipment.
• Supervise the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems—air conditioning units, ventilation systems, and related mechanical components—using schematics and HVAC design principles.
• Manage inventory levels of parts and equipment necessary for appliance repair, plumbing repairs, welding projects, and equipment maintenance.
• Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols; conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
• Oversee property maintenance activities to ensure facilities are well-maintained and compliant with regulations.
• Maintain detailed records of all repairs, maintenance activities, inspections, and safety reports.
• Foster a team-oriented environment by mentoring staff, conducting performance reviews, and promoting professional development.
• Manage vendor relationships for equipment procurement and service contracts related to HVAC/R systems and other mechanical services.
• Monitor budget performance; identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.

Skills

• Extensive knowledge of construction processes and project management principles.
• Proven experience as a service technician or in field service roles involving HVAC/R systems, appliance repair or property maintenance.
• Strong understanding of schematics for electrical wiring, plumbing layouts, HVAC design plans, and refrigeration systems including ammonia refrigeration.
• Mechanical expertise in equipment repair—including boilers, welders, air conditioning units—and troubleshooting using tools like ohmmeters.
• Hands-on experience with HVAC/R systems installation and servicing; familiarity with air conditioning systems is essential.
• Ability to read technical schematics accurately; proficiency in HVAC design principles required.
• Mechanical knowledge spanning plumbing systems, refrigeration units (including ammonia-based), boilers, welding techniques, and general equipment repair.
• Experience managing field service teams; excellent leadership skills to motivate technicians in diverse technical disciplines.
• Familiarity with driver operations for logistics coordination when needed.
• Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, vendors, team members—and ensuring clear documentation of all activities.
