Overview Hours:
37 Hours per week.
Leeds College of Building relies on robust systems to deliver outstanding learning. We’re looking for a Systems Administrator to maintain, evolve, and secure our infrastructure to support our staff and students. This role also involves partnering on projects that keep the College at the forefront of construction education.
Working within our growing IT Team and reporting to the Digital Support Manager, you’ll combine hands‑on support with proactive system administration across on‑premises and cloud environments. The role includes daily monitoring, backups, deployments, documentation, and project delivery.
Responsibilities
Perform routine network maintenance, implement security measures, manage user accounts, and ensure effective backups and disaster‑recovery testing.
Provide comprehensive support for Microsoft 365, including advanced troubleshooting, configuration, and user training.
Test, deploy, and document new software/hardware; set up and maintain onsite and cloud‑hosted servers.
Deliver frontline support to staff and students, taking responsibility for incidents from first contact through resolution and assisting colleagues with escalations.
Proactively monitor systems (network, backups, security alerts) and manage IT assets and updates across servers and client endpoints.
Occasionally work outside core hours for updates or problem resolution and across College sites when required.
Qualifications
Experience supporting Windows 11 and Windows Server, networking technologies, Active Directory, and Microsoft cloud administration (365, Entra, Intune).
A logical, problem‑solving approach and PowerShell scripting capability.
A degree in an IT‑related discipline or equivalent industry certifications.
Level 2 Maths and English qualifications.
Desirable Experience in an educational setting and skills including training colleagues, virtualisation, project management, software deployment, cyber security, backups & disaster recovery, and cloud‑based asset management.
