Farrex Freight Systems Ltd. is a fast-growing logistics and transportation company providing dependable, time-critical freight solutions across the GTA and beyond. We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Transportation Coordinator / Lead to join our team and support daily operations.

The Transportation Coordinator/ Lead will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day dispatching, coordinating drivers, ensuring on-time deliveries, and maintaining strong communication with customers. This role also acts as a lead within the operations team, supporting workflow, problem-solving, and process improvements.

Job Functions Include But Are Not Limited To:

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Dispatch & Coordination

  • Schedule, coordinate, and dispatch shipments for same-day, rush, direct, and overnight services
  • Assign loads to drivers and ensure efficient route planning
  • Monitor driver progress throughout the day and adjust plans as needed

Communication & Customer Support

  • Communicate with customers regarding pick-ups, delivery status, and service inquiries
  • Provide timely updates on delays, issues, or changes to shipment schedules
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients and drivers

Systems & Documentation

  • Accurately track and update shipment details in the TMS
  • Maintain clear, organized records of all dispatch activities
  • Ensure all data is up-to-date for billing and operational reporting

Problem Solving & Operational Support

  • Troubleshoot routing challenges, service delays, and driver issues in real time
  • Support the Department Manager with daily planning, scheduling, and workflow
  • Provide guidance and support to team members during peak periods

Compliance & Flexibility

  • Ensure all activities meet company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with after-hours or weekend coverage when operational needs arise

Key Requirements:

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in transportation, dispatch, or logistics coordination (required)
  • Strong communication skills to interact with clients, drivers, and internal teams effectively.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to accurately enter data and maintain records.
  • Familiarity with routing, courier services, or freight operations is an asset
  • Proficiency with dispatch or TMS software preferred
  • Experience with handling maintenance documentation and coordinating repairs.

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on meeting client needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and other relevant software tools.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules, priorities, and operational requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to handle logistics issues and customer concerns efficiently.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to support operational demands, if required.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position based onsite.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on operational demands.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
