Kitchen Assistant/ECA

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our Preschool Canada team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in the kitchen by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards are met. This position is perfect for individuals passionate about the food industry and looking to gain experience working with children and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of meals by chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, and assembling dishes as directed by catering menu.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
• Ensure all food handling practices comply with food safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
• Help with inventory management by restocking supplies and notifying management of low stock levels.
• Support the children and educators in the classroom
• Participate in regular cleaning duties, including deep cleaning of kitchen equipment and appliances.
• Collaborate with team members to create a positive and productive work atmosphere.

Experience

• Previous experience in a kitchen or restaurant setting is preferred but not required; we welcome candidates eager to learn.
• Familiarity with food preparation techniques and basic cooking skills is an advantage.
• Understanding of food safety standards and practices is essential for this role.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are crucial for success in this position.
• Currently has a food handler certificate from a reliable source
• Has experience in the childcare setting would be an asset

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.20-$22.69 per hour
