Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to provide high-quality patient care in various settings, including home health environments. Your expertise in orthopedics, geriatrics, and medical terminology will be essential as you assist patients in their rehabilitation journey, helping them regain mobility and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists in implementing treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Conduct therapeutic exercises and modalities under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
- Monitor patient progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, exercises, and home care strategies.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient treatments and progress notes in compliance with clinic policies.
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care for patients transitioning out of therapy.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to physical therapy practices.
- Experience or familiarity with orthopedics, geriatrics, outpatient settings, and home health care is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and patience while working with diverse patient populations.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in occupational therapy.
