Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Shredder Maintenance Manager to lead our shredding equipment maintenance operations in Raleigh, NC. This pivotal role involves overseeing the maintenance, We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Shredder & Baler Maintenance Manager to join our leadership team. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our shredders, balers, downstream equipment, and all associated systems while overseeing maintenance personnel and daily workflow. repair, and continuous improvement of industrial shredders and related machinery to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance. As a leader in facilities management and industrial maintenance, you will coordinate a team of technicians, manage maintenance schedules, and implement proactive strategies to minimize downtime. Your expertise in mechanical, electrical, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) will drive efficiency and innovation within our manufacturing environment. Responsibilities
- Lead, train, and supervise maintenance technicians. The goal is to develop a strong in-house maintenance crew capable of handling both shredder and baler systems.
- Plan, schedule, and perform preventative maintenance on shredders, balers, conveyors, motors, and related systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on shredders and balers to minimize downtime.
- Maintain parts inventory, work orders, and maintenance logs for both shredding and baling equipment.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and all regulatory compliance standards.
- Coordinate with operations leadership to plan repairs, schedule downtime, and prioritize equipment needs across shredder and baler lines.
- Lead and supervise the maintenance team responsible for shredder equipment, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Develop, implement, and oversee preventive maintenance programs utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track work orders, equipment history, and spare parts inventory.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, low voltage, high voltage, and HVAC systems associated with shredding machinery using schematics, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Manage projects related to shredder upgrades, repairs, or facility improvements by coordinating resources, timelines, and budgets.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations by conducting regular inspections and safety audits; promote a culture of safety awareness among team members.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize shredder performance while minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance strategies.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance metrics, and incident reports to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience; direct experience with shredders, balers, or other heavy processing equipment strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and OEM procedures.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to train and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial environment (dust, noise, heights, etc.).
- Must be able to pass background check and drug screen.
- Proven management experience leading industrial maintenance teams within manufacturing or facilities management environments.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by electrical experience including working with schematics, low voltage systems, high voltage systems, and HVAC systems.
- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), schematics interpretation, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools essential for troubleshooting complex machinery.
- Familiarity with CMMS platforms for scheduling maintenance tasks and tracking asset histories.
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Supervising experience in industrial settings with a focus on safety protocols and team development.
- Excellent communication skills in English to effectively collaborate across departments and document technical procedures clearly.
- Knowledge of facilities management principles including low voltage electrical systems and high voltage safety procedures.
