Are you a seasoned EMS professional with strong leadership skills? We are seeking an EMS Supervisor to lead our dynamic EMS team, overseeing crews, vehicles, and equipment across a 535-square-mile service area for a community of 190,000. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

The purpose of this position is to serve as a senior-level EMS provider who is responsible for managing the daily activities and performance of EMS crews, vehicles, and equipment for an EMS system covering an area of approximately 535 square miles and a population of approximately 190,000.This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings. This class acts with the authority of the Director, Deputy Director, Training Officer, and Logistics Officer when they are not present, supervising 80 or more personnel, on a 24-hour shift rotation, and fulfills the duties of a Paramedic as needed.The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.Ensures crew arrive in a timely manner and are properly uniformed.Makes station rounds, addresses issues with stations.Serves as the EMS Incident Commander for large and complex incidents.Responds to critical incidents as a Quick Response Paramedic.Supervises crew members during patient assessment; assists with control of the scene, patient care, and transport when needed.Issues and tracks narcotics to crew members for patient care.Provides advanced life support patient care, treatment, and transportation; ensures emergency vehicles and equipment are properly maintained.Responds to and resolves complaints, concerns, and/or inquiries from internal departments and/or the general public.Monitors employee compliance with continuing education requirements, skill check-offs, and related items; may administer and deliver training and continuing education courses.Prepares a variety of reports, forms, and/or other related documentation related to operational activities; maintains records and information.Coordinates with others for maintenance and repairs of assigned vehicles; addresses and corrects related vehicle and equipment issues.Ensures equipment operates correctly and is in compliance with all regulations.Distributes supplies to various stations and locations.Maintains communication with related agencies.Responds to emergency calls involving significant events and provides support during periods when all ambulances are actively engaged.Performs related work as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
