Bread Route Driver and Manager

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Route Driver to manage a Bread Distribution Route. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering products to your customers in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills and have experience in commercial driving, particularly with box trucks. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that your deliveries are executed smoothly while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. This position is for an independent operator that is able to set his/her own schedule in-line with the customer's receiving schedule.

In this role, you will be an Independent Business Partner with Bimbo Bakeries, the largest bakery in the USA with iconic brands like Arnolds, Brownberry and Thomas English Muffins and Bagels. Your customers will be large grocery chains like PickNSave and Sendiks and large retails like Meijer and Costco.

You will be responsible for picking up the bakery's products (typical pick up time is 2:00 a.m.) and getting the product delivered to the stores during their morning receiving hours.

Duties

• Operate a box truck to transport goods to designated locations along assigned routes. CDL license is not required.
• Load and unload products safely, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage. Drop off per customer's preferred early morning hours.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including any discrepancies or issues encountered during the route. This will involve using a handheld input device to scan, track, invoice and return products. Handheld computer skills and mental math to count products are important skills.
• Provide exceptional customer service by interacting positively with clients during deliveries.
• Adhere to all traffic laws while driving.
• Experience
• Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is preferred.
• Familiarity with route driving and logistics operations.
• Previous warehouse experience is advantageous, particularly in loading/unloading goods.
• Strong customer service orientation with good communication skills.
• Ability to perform moderate lifting and moving tasks as required by the job.
