Position: Full-Time Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe
Locations: Orlando, Oviedo, Kissimmee (with paid mileage/time for occasional travel to Port Orange and Daytona if needed)

Central Florida Retina is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe to join our growing and fast-paced retina practice. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a professional and compassionate team dedicated to delivering the highest standard of patient care.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring the smooth operation of our ophthalmology clinics by performing basic, advanced, and complex procedures. Responsibilities must be completed accurately, efficiently, and timely. We're looking for a team player who is well-organized, has strong computer skills, and communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and other staff members.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of ophthalmic experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Adherence to confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Proof of educational classes and in-services attended

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Understands ophthalmic practice workflow and retina patient care
  • Clearly communicates with patients regarding retina conditions and procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and ocular medications
  • Performs accurate and efficient patient workups for physician exams
  • Conducts vision testing, tonometry, confrontational field tests, Amsler grids, pupil and muscle exams
  • Documents patient exams accurately in electronic health records (EHR)
  • Greets, rooms, and escorts patients as needed throughout the visit
  • Ensures patient charts are reviewed, complete, and up to date
  • Interviews patients and documents histories with precision
  • Administers eye drops using proper sterile techniques
  • Assists with minor procedures and ophthalmic imaging
  • Coordinates patient communication for follow-ups, procedures, and surgery scheduling
  • Returns patient and pharmacy calls in a timely manner
  • Cleans and maintains equipment using sterile protocols
  • Assesses and mitigates common workplace safety hazards
  • Follows universal precautions and HIPAA regulations
  • Maintains documentation compliance for Medicare and other insurers
  • Has basic knowledge of contact lenses
  • Demonstrates flexibility, initiative, and professionalism
  • Works knowledgeably with imaging modalities including:
  • Ultrasounds
  • Fundus photography
  • Fluorescein angiography (FA)
  • Indocyanine green angiography (ICG)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $20.00 per hour
