Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and bilingual (Chinese/English) Operations Manager specializing in Air & Ocean Freight to lead and optimize our logistics and transportation operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee end-to-end freight management, coordinate with carriers, clients, and internal teams, and ensure seamless execution of shipping processes. Your expertise will drive efficiency, enhance customer satisfaction, and support our growth in the global supply chain landscape. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence operational excellence within a fast-paced, international environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of air and ocean freight shipments, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation solutions.
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, 3PL providers (Third-Party Logistics), NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier), and other logistics partners to optimize freight movement.
- Oversee transportation management systems (TMS), EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), and other logistics software such as CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tools like Salesforce or similar platforms for tracking shipments and managing client data.
- Develop and negotiate contracts with carriers and service providers to secure favorable pricing and service levels.
- Maintain compliance with FDA regulations, customs requirements, and other international trade standards during shipping processes.
- Lead inside sales efforts by generating leads, managing accounts, nurturing customer relationships, and expanding business opportunities through B2B sales strategies.
- Monitor freight costs, prepare pricing proposals, and implement transportation planning strategies to maximize efficiency while controlling expenses.
- Dispatch shipments efficiently by coordinating data entry, scheduling pickups/deliveries, and managing dispatching workflows using systems like AS400 or equivalent.
- Foster strong customer relationships through proactive communication, issue resolution, and tailored logistics solutions that meet client needs.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs), prepare reports on logistics performance, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
