We are seeking an organized and proactive Shipping Clerk to join our logistics department in St. Louis, Missouri. In this role, you will manage the entire shipping process, ensuring that all outgoing orders are processed accurately and efficiently. You will coordinate with carriers, prepare shipping documentation, and maintain accurate records. This position requires excellent attention to detail and a strong understanding of warehouse operations and logistics. A commitment to safety and quality is paramount.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and package shipments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to carrier requirements.
- Verify shipping addresses, order details, and contents against shipping manifests.
- Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, and other necessary documentation using shipping software.
- Schedule and coordinate pick-ups with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, LTL).
- Track shipments and provide updates to customers and internal teams as needed.
- Maintain an organized and efficient shipping area, ensuring all supplies are stocked.
- Conduct quality checks on packed and labeled shipments before dispatch.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper lifting techniques and the use of PPE.
- Assist with receiving operations as needed, ensuring timely processing of incoming goods.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency and accuracy of the logistics department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a shipping, logistics, or warehouse environment.
- Proficiency with shipping software and common office applications.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of supply chain and logistics principles.
- Commitment to workplace safety and the correct use of PPE.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
