Description

Position Profile:

As a Denture Technician specializing in Processing, you will be instrumental in the final fabrication stages of dental prostheses. This position focuses on the processing, finishing, and polishing of dentures and partials using various techniques and materials to achieve optimal fit, durability, and esthetics. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship will ensure high-quality results and patient satisfaction.

Job Duties and Accountabilities:

Denture Technician: 

  • Process complete and partial dentures following standard laboratory protocols and dentist prescriptions.
  • Pack, cure, deflask, and trim prostheses using appropriate techniques and materials.
  • Conduct finishing and polishing of dentures to ensure proper esthetics, comfort, and function.
  • Inspect final products for quality, accuracy, and completeness, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with team members in setup, wax-up, and other departments to maintain workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in a clean and organized manner in accordance with safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety standards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Safety:  Works in a safe manner. Complies with safe work practices, at all times. Reports unsafe conditions or situation to supervisor or management. Understands and fully complies with Lock-out/Tag-out procedures for all equipment and machinery. Follows all safety procedures including wearing of all required personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Teamwork and Collaboration:  Actively engages in production and team meetings, and provides timely feedback to team regarding work topics.  Understands organizational mesh points and potential synergies. Integrates team efforts across work team.  Understands available resources and utilizes those resources when appropriate.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some vocational or technical training a plus
  • Prior experience in a dental lab or manufacturing/production environment helpful but not required
  • Willingness to learn dental processing techniques such as packing, curing, trimming, and polishing
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with small tools and machinery
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures in a lab or industrial setting
  • Positive attitude and a desire to grow within the dental lab field.

Physical and Safety Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to safely operate gas powered heating equipment (Bunsen burner) and high-speed rotary tools (bench lathe, hand grinder).
  • Repetitive motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, or fingers.
  • Acute visual abilities: Fine visual acuity with the ability to inspect closely or to assemble small parts; color vision; or depth perception and/or field of vision.
  • Finger dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Ability to convey information to various stakeholders with clarity and effectiveness.
