BLDG 5 is looking for an Executive Chef to lead the culinary program at one of Baton Rouge's most beloved restaurants. This role is for a creative, detail-driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced, scratch-kitchen environment and believes deeply in fresh ingredients, soulful hospitality, and building a team culture rooted in respect, passion, and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all culinary operations including prep, cooking, execution, and quality control.
  • Lead, train, and develop a cohesive kitchen team.
  • Collaborate on menu development with ownership and leadership.
  • Maintain recipe accuracy, portioning, costing, and overall food quality standards.
  • Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and high kitchen organization at all times.
  • Build strong prep systems and maintain consistency across service periods.
  • Manage BOH labor, scheduling, and inventory.
  • Partner closely with FOH leadership to ensure smooth communication and service flow.
  • Uphold BLDG 5's brand standards for flavor, hospitality, and aesthetic.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years in a leadership role (Sous Chef, CDC, or Executive Chef level).
  • Strong background in scratch cooking and globally inspired flavors.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Solid understanding of food costing and BOH financials.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to team culture.
