Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to inform care plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following established protocols, including IV infusions and medication management.
- Support complex medical procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding, wound suturing, and sterile processing techniques.
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations like laboratory specimen collection, processing, and medical imaging procedures.
- Manage patient documentation meticulously within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide specialized care for patients with conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, traumatic injuries at Level I Trauma Centers, or those requiring hospice or palliative care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care settings like ICU or Emergency Room environments to deliver timely and effective patient interventions.
- Support discharge planning and case management efforts to ensure seamless transition from hospital to home or long-term care facilities.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current certification.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments such as critical care, medical-surgical units, emergency medicine, or long-term care facilities.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate medical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and infection control protocols.
- Experience administering injections, IV therapy (including IV insertion), phlebotomy, and venipuncture techniques.
- Ability to perform physical examinations and assessments with attention to detail in high-pressure situations like trauma centers or urgent care settings.
- Excellent communication skills working with patients of all ages—including pediatrics and neonatal care—and collaborating effectively within healthcare teams.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
