Utility Development Manager – Data Centers

Location:
USA – Remote

Salary:
$200,000 - $250,000 + Bonus + Equity + 401(k) + Healthcare & Dental

You will sit at the center of regional power strategy, originating and securing long-term power solutions, managing critical utility relationships, navigating complex regulatory environments, and guiding the technical direction of power infrastructure supporting next-generation facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead power origination efforts, securing utility, IPP, onsite generation, and hybrid power solutions.
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with utility partners.
  • Oversee and negotiate utility connection agreements to ensure reliable, cost-effective power.
  • Manage IPP contracts and ensure alignment with procurement and compliance goals.
  • Evaluate onsite generation and storage options for long-term capacity and grid support.
  • Contribute to regional power availability strategy across new and existing data centers.
  • Track market and regulatory changes to inform strategy and mitigate risks.
  • Provide technical leadership on power systems, utilities, and regulatory processes.
  • Support projects from early development through energization and ongoing utility engagement.
  • Partner with legal to ensure utility and IPP agreements meet regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate across engineering, construction, finance, and legal teams to align power initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in power origination, utility agreements, energy infrastructure, or large-scale project leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of energy markets, utility management, IPP negotiations, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy, Business, or related field; advanced credentials preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-stakeholder technical and commercial projects.
  • Strong contract negotiation skills across utility and IPP agreements.
