The Mechanical Engineer II is a skilled engineer within the Product Development engineering team. This role reports to the Director of Product Development and does not havee any formal direct reports but has an informal technical leadership role within the team. This role designs, develops, and enhances consumer audio products to meet required specifications and standards. Evaluates and analyzes product requirements, objectives and constraints, then develops technical and functional specifications for the products and executes their design.

Primary Functional Responsibilities

  • Investigates and identifies appropriate materials and processes, collaborates to develop effective solutions that meet the specifications and product cost requirements
  • Highly proficient in utilizing ME CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) and other design and modeling tools to develop mechanical parts and assemblies, effectively communicates conceptual designs to stakeholders and partners.
  • Prepares technical documents detailing designs, instructions, and specifications.
  • Conducts simulations and prototype testing to evaluate and verify mechanical product performance, reliability, safety, collects and analyzes data for improvements.
  • Reviews and provides guidance for the product creation processes from fabrication, modification, and assembly.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree and is highly independent.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 4+ Years in consumer electronics with mechanical engineering and manufacturing support
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Extensive ME CAD experience, preferably Solidworks
  • Experience with prototyping and validating designs (CNC, 3D Printing, Injection Molding, etc.)
  • Experience creating and executing test plans, collaborating with Quality for production tests
  • Capable of tackling challenges with solid analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Engineering process-driven mindset with ability to facilitate processes within the team
  • Ability to review designs and assess risks for failure modes, DFMEA, etc.
