Role & Responsibility: Technical Support (IT)
The primary role is to ensure that all of the clinic's technological systems (hardware, software, and networks) are functioning securely, reliably, and compliantly so that doctors, nurses, and administrative staff can focus on patient care. Think of this person as the hero who keeps the lights on for the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting
First Line of Support: Receive, prioritize, and resolve technical issues from staff and clinicians via phone, email, or a ticketing system.
Diagnosis and Repair: Troubleshoot hardware problems (computers, printers, peripherals, phones) and software problems (Windows/macOS, Microsoft Office, medical applications).
Critical Systems Support: Offer specialized support for healthcare systems such as EHR/EMR (Electronic Health Records), PACS (for medical imaging), and scheduling/billing software.
Basic Networking: Provide basic support for network connectivity issues (Wi-Fi, VPN, DHCP, DNS).
- Asset and Infrastructure Management
Configuration and Installation: Install, configure, and deploy new workstations, laptops, printers, and software for new hires and upgrades.
Inventory: Create and maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all IT assets.
Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance.
- Security and Compliance (CRITICAL in the USA)
HIPAA Compliance: Ensure all actions and systems comply with strict health data privacy and security regulations (HIPAA - Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).
