Direct Support Professional

Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities. In this role, you will support residents in their daily activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe and nurturing environment. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through personalized care and support.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
• Monitor and document residents' health status, vital signs, and behavioral changes in accordance with care plans
• Administer medications and assist with medication management following HIPAA guidelines
• Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition planning
• Implement and follow individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs
• Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties as needed
• Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities when required
• Follow all safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures to ensure resident safety at all times

Skills

• Proven experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home & community care settings
• Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or physical disabilities
• Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in condition or behavior
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and team members
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards
• Basic cooking skills for meal preparation and nutritional support
• Experience in medication administration
• Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to respectful caregiving and promoting independence

This role is integral in providing compassionate support tailored to each individual's unique needs. Candidates should be patient-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility for maintaining safety standards while delivering exceptional care.

Pay: From $15.50 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 36.0 per week
