Job description:

Cornerstone of Hope, Inc. (COH) provides administrative and staffing services to agencies in the Western Kentucky Region. As such, COH has a Facilities Maintenance Technician position available to be assigned to work at Merryman House located in Paducah, KY.

Work Schedule

Tuesday - Saturday 8am-4:30pm

EXPERIENCE

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs across a campus of four buildings, including:
  • Basic plumbing repairs
  • Minor electrical work (non-certified tasks only)
  • Drywall, painting, and general building repairs
  • Preventative maintenance and safety checks
  • Monitor facilities to ensure buildings, grounds, and equipment are in good working order.
  • Assist the Director of Operations with vendor coordination, including scheduling, access to facilities, and oversight of contracted services.
  • Accept and assist with donation intake from the public, ensuring items are received, documented, and directed appropriately.
  • Assist staff and, when appropriate, clients with furniture assembly, room setup, and moving furniture during client transitions.
  • Support safety preparedness efforts, including assisting with drills and documenting completed tasks as required.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance areas in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow all Merryman House policies, confidentiality requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Interact respectfully and trauma-informed with clients, staff, volunteers, and donors at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support organizational operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of general maintenance and repair practices.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality in a domestic violence shelter environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 50–100 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in building or facilities maintenance preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass required background checks.

Work Environment

This position works in a residential and administrative campus environment serving survivors of domestic violence. Professional boundaries, confidentiality, and sensitivity to trauma are essential.
