POSITION DESCRIPTION
P osition Title: Electrical Engineer III Department:

Classification: Exempt – Full-Time Approved By: Human Resources

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Position Reports To: Vice President of Engineering

Positions Supervised: None

POSITION PURPOSE
The Electrical Engineer III will lay out, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify developmental production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems.

Essential Functions And Basic Duties

  • Develops, assembles, procures or modifies existing and new tooling, fixtures, and equipment to ensure efficent production methods
  • Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders
  • Fabricates and assembles prototypes, test equipment and engineering models
  • Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
  • Maintains equipment by competing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs
  • Solders through hole and surface mount components to prototype PCB
  • Terminates wiring harnesses using crimping tools or soldering equipment
  • Reads, edits and creates wire diagrams and schematics
  • Demonstrated proficiency with analog and digital circuit analysis
  • Reads, analyzes and interprets scientific and technical journals; responds to common inquiries or complaints from internal or external customers; effectively presents information to management
  • Solves practical probloems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interprets instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Works with probability and statistical inference, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Cultivates a culture that ssures effective cross functional team work
  • Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values
  • Performs job duties in a manner that maintains compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, policies and procedures

Non-essential Functions

  • Identifies and troubleshoots process, material or equipment problems to minimize down time, optimize performance and improve quality
  • Designs, builds and implements production and engineering electro-mechanical fixtures
  • Coordinates and/or executes fixture calibration in the lab
  • Assists in failure analysis, troubleshooting, rework/repair of non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause
  • Manages stock inventory by checking current levels, anticipating future needs, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of stock
  • All other duties as assigned

Schedule

  • 9/80 work schedule
  • Monday – Friday
  • Overtime may be required as assigned

Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education And Experience

  • Associate's degree in related discipline; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5-7 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
