This position plays a critical role in preventing data errors, reducing production disruptions, and supporting efficient new product and sustaining engineering activities.
Key Responsibilities
Legacy CAD Migration & Data Integrity (Primary Focus)
- Convert legacy 2D and 3D models into updated SolidWorks formats aligned with current CAD standards.
- Rebuild, clean, and optimize models, assemblies, and drawings for long-term maintainability.
- Ensure all migrated data meets accuracy, completeness, and revision-control requirements.
- Maintain and organize the CAD database to ensure accessibility, consistency, and traceability.
- Standardize drawing templates, title blocks, notes, and dimensioning practices across product lines.
Engineering Documentation Control
- Maintain drawing files, engineering records, design procedures, and reference documentation.
- Implement updates to engineering documentation as standards evolve.
- Support creation and revision of assembly drawings, exploded views, installation instructions, and technical documentation.
- Prepare, manage, and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECR/ECN) with full documentation accuracy.
Bill of Materials (BOM) Accuracy & Maintenance (Major Risk Area)
- Build, validate, and maintain Bills of Materials for new and existing products.
- Audit BOMs to ensure alignment with current engineering designs, material specifications, and revision history.
- Identify, correct, and prevent BOM discrepancies that could impact purchasing, manufacturing, or inventory.
- Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Production to resolve BOM issues promptly.
- Support reconfiguration of BOMs for custom orders and product variations.
Support for Engineering & Production
- Assist engineering teams with updates to existing products and minor design improvements.
- Provide production support through accurate documentation, clear drawings, and timely updates.
- Coordinate with vendors on manufacturability questions and technical discrepancies.
Testing & Product Validation
- Support basic product or materials testing as needed.
- Document results and implement design or documentation changes as required.
Essential Skills
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings).
- Strong understanding of CAD standards, modeling best practices, and design documentation.
- Experience with PDM systems for data control and revision management.
- Ability to manage large volumes of data and maintain version accuracy.
- High attention to detail—especially in BOMs, drawing accuracy, and file structures.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Experience & Education
- BSME or equivalent mechanical engineering background.
