We are seeking a motivated and reliable Material Handler to join our dynamic logistics team in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to the movement and organization of materials within our warehouse. Your primary duties will include receiving, unloading, staging, and transferring materials to designated areas. You will operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to ensure efficient flow of goods. Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is crucial for optimal warehouse operations and overall safety. This position requires physical stamina and a strong attention to detail to prevent errors and ensure accuracy in inventory management. You will collaborate with other warehouse staff to meet production targets and ensure timely order fulfillment. A commitment to safety protocols and the proper use of PPE is paramount. This role is essential to our supply chain and provides a great opportunity for growth within our company. Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming materials and compare with purchase orders.
- Move materials from receiving to storage or to production areas.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy through proper handling and documentation.
- Ensure that all materials are stored correctly and securely.
- Participate in regular warehouse inventory counts.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the correct use of required PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding material status and any issues encountered.
- Support other warehouse operations as needed, contributing to the overall logistics process.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, typically up to 50 pounds, repetitively throughout the shift.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment and safety procedures.
- Strong understanding of logistics and inventory management principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Willingness to wear appropriate PPE, such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
