We are seeking a meticulous and organized Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This role is crucial for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are accurately prepared, documented, and dispatched in a timely manner. You will be responsible for maintaining inventory records related to shipments, coordinating with carriers, and troubleshooting any shipping-related issues. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of shipping procedures. Prior experience in a warehouse or shipping environment is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and pack orders for shipment, ensuring accuracy and proper packaging.
- Generate shipping labels and necessary documentation, including bills of lading.
- Coordinate with various shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, USPS, freight) to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and update the shipping log.
- Inspect outgoing shipments to ensure they meet quality standards and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments (e.g., Warehouse, Sales) and external partners regarding shipping status and issues.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use of PPE.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, demonstrating a commitment to overall logistics operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency with shipping software and order management systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including some lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Strong understanding of safety procedures in a warehouse environment.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Familiarity with handling various types of products and packaging materials.
