Research assistant (f/m/d) in the field of energy economics: "Security of supply in the electricity and gas sector"


Would you like to help shape the energy transition and provide scientific support? Then you've come to the right place! You will work in interdisciplinary research projects that deal with the techno-economic analysis of sustainable energy systems. Your focus will be on ensuring security of supply in the electricity and gas sector (including hydrogen), taking extreme weather events into account.

  • Further development and application of an integrated electricity and gas grid model
  • Integration of probabilistic input data for generation and demand
  • Analysis of the effects of extreme weather events and changing infrastructures on the security of supply
  • Development of strategies to increase the level of security of supply
  • Publication of research results in renowned journals and presentation at conferences

The position offers the possibility of a doctorate.


Prerequisites:

  • Completed master's degree in industrial engineering, business administration, economics, mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, process engineering or a comparable subject area
  • Interest in quantitative analyses in the field of energy economics
  • Experience or knowledge in the implementation of computer-aided models (e.g. operations research, machine learning or statistical data analysis) is an advantage
  • High level of initiative, good self-organisation and very good English skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with energy system modelling
  • Programming skills (e.g. Python, R, MATLAB)
  • Good knowledge of German
