Quality Test Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced
Quality Test Engineer
to support manufacturing quality, automated test development, and embedded software validation within our Fuel Systems and Embedded Systems teams. This role involves driving root-cause analysis, leading corrective actions, developing automated test frameworks, and improving process capability across machining and embedded system environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, analyze quality performance data, and support continuous improvement to enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead root-cause analysis for scrap, defects, rework, and customer complaints.
• Develop and implement corrective & preventative actions (8D, FMEA, Fishbone).
• Monitor machining processes using SPC, capability metrics, and risk analysis.
• Analyze quality data and prepare FPY, PPM, and capability reports.
• Train operators and support adherence to quality standards and inspection practices.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Python.
• Validate embedded software features and interpret system-level design documents.
• Perform integration testing in C++/Linux environments using GitHub.
• Troubleshoot issues, triage defects, and support test execution in Agile teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and global teams.

Qualifications
Education

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Pontiac Role:
  Bachelor's + 5 years experience (internships count) OR Master's + 3 years internship experience.
• Mossville Role:
  Bachelor's + 7 years experience OR Master's + 5 years experience (internships not counted).

Required Skills

• Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving ability.

• Experience designing automated test frameworks.
• High proficiency in Python for automated test scripting.
• Ability to understand & interpret system-level design documentation.
• Familiarity with embedded systems (C++, Linux) and datalink test equipment.

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of quality standards, process capability, and risk management.
• Experience with FMEA, SPC, and machining quality processes.
• Exposure to Functional Safety (FuSa), SOTIF, robotics, sensors, or autonomy.
• Experience with GitHub and Agile development workflows.
• Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and team influence skills.
