Job Summary

The technician shall troubleshoot HVAC problems and using tools and components performs O&M maintenance to repair or replace air conditioner / refrigeration system compressors, driers, line sets, reversing valves, condenser fans, motors and fuses. Inspects air handling units, replace belts, air filters, motors and bearings. Inspects VAV systems, cleans coils, replaces faulty actuators and transformers. Maintains ice machines, replace filters, distribution trays and bin components. Inspects and performs maintenance on exhaust fans, replaces belts, bearings and motors. Inspects and repairs boiler and its components, pumps, burner assemblies, regulators, safety valves and valves. Inspects and operates centrifugal, screw and scroll chillers. Inspects and maintains cooling tower, motors, belts and fill system for unit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily observation of HVAC systems for operation and cleanliness. Scheduled observation of air handlers, chillers, boilers, rooftop units, VAVs, ice machines, and fan coil units. Reports findings as satisfactory or unsatisfactory and creates plans for repair of any unsatisfactory findings.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Shall have a minimum of three (3) years' experience in healthcare facilities.

Shall be certified by one of the following: a nationally recognized HVAC certification programs (i.e., North American Technician Excellence (NATE), the ESCO Institute HVAC Excellence Professional Level Technician Certification, the International Code Counsel (ICC), documented Journeyman status in a state or nationally recognized apprenticeship program, a DD214 documented Level Five or higher training level or other DoD equivalent).

Shall be certified in accordance with the EPA 608 refrigerant rules as specified in the Clean Air Act.

Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds as needed. Must be able to work in a variety of office and fluid settings including sites in various stages of development. Must be able to work in a sitting position for 8 or more hours a day. Must be able to travel to job locations by automobile and/or commercial airline.
