About Us:
Join the team at IPOT, a vibrant hotpot and Asian-fusion concept located in San Francisco. We're expanding our lunch service and brand presence, and we're seeking a motivated Sous Chef to help drive excellence in the kitchen—from menu execution, inventory control, to staff development and service optimization.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and mentor line cooks, prep team and dish‐stations; ensure consistency in recipes, mise en place, and throughput.
- Collaborate in menu development (hotpot broths, dipping sauces, meats & ingredients, specials) and help implement new lunch service initiatives.
- Oversee kitchen during shifts in the chef's absence: scheduling, ordering, waste control, sanitation, vendor relations.
- Help implement brand-driven standards for IPOT across service types (dine-in lunch, dinner, hotpot experience) and support delivery/take-out operations.
- Ensure compliance with all local/regional health regulations, labor-laws, and internal policies.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Sous Chef or senior line cook in a high-volume restaurant (ideally Asian cuisine, hotpot, or fusion).
- Strong leadership skills; ability to train and manage teams.
- Excellent knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety (ServSafe or equivalent), cost-control, inventory management.
- Creative mindset for menu enhancements and willingness to embrace brand growth initiatives (delivery, lunch service, social-media driven specials).
- Flexible schedule – evenings, weekends, and potentially early shifts for lunch service.
- Passion for hospitality, quality food, and building a strong kitchen culture.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly wage: $32-40/hour (commensurate with experience)
- Opportunity for performance bonus and growth into Head Chef/Executive Sous Chef roles as brand expands.
