The Field Service Technician is responsible for repair and overhaul of power Transformers and related equipment in a shop environment as well as on-site maintenance and testing of power distribution equipment in industrial facilities and power plants. This position works in the field as well as the shop and will be subjected to weekend work, frequent overtime during outage season, and some overnight travel:
- Perform repairs, upgrades, and overhaul of Low, Medium and High Voltage Transformers (mostly 480V thru 765kV)
- Support on-site maintenance and testing of electrical power distribution equipment at customer facilities throughout the Northeast
- Interface with fellow employees and customers routinely while executing work and resolving problems as they arise
- Work independently or as part of a team
- Possesses strong organizational, written, and verbal communications skills
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree in electrical technology or related field preferred.
- Equivalent of 7+ years of hands-on experience in transformer services may substitute for formal education.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a lead technician or supervisor in field service operations, preferably in the electrical or transformer industry.
- Extensive hands-on experience (5+ years) in transformer installation, testing, maintenance, and repair.
- Proven ability to lead crews and manage job sites effectively.
