JOB SUMMARY:

The Network Engineer position is responsible for providing support for the Nation-Wide Maritime Surveillance System (NMSS) Support for the Egyptian Navy (EN). We are seeking a skilled Engineer with strong drafting experience to support the development of technical drawings, installation design documentation, and Telecommunications/Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) system layouts. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with AutoCAD, CADD tools, and 3D rendering technologies to produce high-quality electronic, electrical, mechanical, and telecommunications design products. This role involves translating engineering concepts into accurate technical drawings and ensuring compliance with applicable drafting standards and installation processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Produce & refine detailed electronic, electrical, and mechanical drawings based on rough engineering sketches, site surveys, or incomplete legacy documentation.
  • Prepare Installation Design Plans (IDPs) aligned with project requirements and engineering best practices.
  • Apply the Shore Installation Process Handbook - Appendix Q guidelines to design and documentation efforts.
  • Create and refine CAD models using iDEA CAD Standards to ensure consistency and accuracy across all deliverables.
  • Develop dynamic blocks, attributes, interconnect/schematic diagrams, architecture layouts, and floor plans within AutoCAD.
  • Support ICT system design, including C4I-related infrastructure and components.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to verify drawing requirements and incorporate revisions.
  • Maintain drafting files, version control, and documentation according to organizational and project standards.
  • Development and sustainment of As Installed Documentation
  • Development and sustainment of Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Provide training and technical guidance to junior drafters, engineering technicians, and project team members on CAD standards, drawing quality, Navy-specific drafting requirements, and best practices.
  • Overseeing and performing installation (i.e. hands-on experience) of sensor, communications, and other equipment.
  • Conducting AoAs and developing recommendations on use of specific technologies and OEM equipment
  • Detailed design to include aspects such as viewshed analysis, network mapping, frequency spectrum allocation, EMI, CONOPs, etc.
  • Developing CDRL documentation to include architecture documentation, site surveys reports, CDR packages, and Test Plans and Reports
  • Testing and troubleshooting systems
  • Developing training materials to support training of end users (e.g. host nation military)
  • Produce three-dimensional (3D) renderings to support project planning and visualization.

EDUCATION:

  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or Engineering field (such as computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Five (5) years of professional experience producing electronic, electrical, and mechanical drawings from rough engineering sketches or from existing installations with limited or inadequate drawings.
  • Five (5) years of experience using Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) systems as a principal drafting tool.
  • Three (3) years of full-time professional experience with AutoCAD.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing 3D renderings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • Shore Installation Process Handbook
  • Installation Design Plans
  • iDEA CAD Standards
  • AutoCAD dynamic blocks, attributes, schematic/interconnect diagrams, and architectural/floor plan development
  • ICT design experience.
  • Must be willing to travel out of the country for several weeks to austere locations (such as Africa, Eastern Europe, and Asia) (estimated 10-20% travel)
  • Prior experience supporting NAVWAR/NIWC, U.S. Navy shore facilities, or C4I modernization/installation efforts, preferred.
  • Familiarity with DoD documentation, configuration management, and cybersecurity-aware design practices, preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, audit-ready technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with engineering teams and Navy stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple taskings in a dynamic DoD environment.
  • Experience with and detailed knowledge of COTS border and coastal surveillance technologies, preferred.
  • Experience planning and performing systems engineering analysis related to border and coastal surveillance, preferred.
