EMS Billing Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Ambulance Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing and coding, with a thorough understanding of medical terminology and coding systems. This role is essential for ensuring accurate billing processes and maintaining the integrity of medical records within our organization. This is an in-person (not remote) position with office hours of Monday through Friday between 8:00 am until 5:00 pm (with a one hour lunch break). Experience working for an EMS / Ambulance provider is required.

Duties

• Review and process patient billing information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Utilize medical coding systems, including ICD-9 and ICD-10, to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, billing procedures, and insurance requirements.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies in billing or coding.
• Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and working with insurance companies to ensure timely payments.
• Assist in the maintenance of medical records, ensuring that all documentation is complete and accurate.
• Generate reports related to billing activities, identifying trends or issues that may require attention.

Experience

• Previous experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is preferred.
• Proficiency in medical coding and familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) systems is highly desirable.
• CAC (Certified Ambulance Coder) is preferred.
• Strong understanding of medical records management and relevant regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication skills.

Pay: $ $30.00 per hour
