Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to join our healthcare team. The OTA will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to deliver patient-centered care across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. This role is vital in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life through tailored therapeutic interventions. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology, with experience in geriatrics, pediatrics, and acute care. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' recovery journeys while working within a collaborative clinical setting.
Duties
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans for patients of all ages.
- Support patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, and mobility exercises.
- Conduct therapeutic activities designed to improve motor skills, coordination, and functional independence.
- Monitor patient progress and document responses to therapy interventions accurately in medical records.
- Educate patients and family members on exercises and strategies to promote ongoing recovery at home or in outpatient settings.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety guidelines during therapy sessions.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate care across inpatient, outpatient, or home health services.
- Assist with the setup of medical imaging or other diagnostic procedures as needed within the scope of practice.
Qualifications
- Valid certification or licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
- Prior experience in skilled nursing facilities, inpatient units, outpatient clinics, or home health is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational health principles.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Familiarity with care plans and documentation standards for patient care records.
- Strong patient care skills with a compassionate approach to supporting recovery and independence.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as acute care or outpatient clinics.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and educating patients/families. Pay: $ $35.00 per hour
