The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for developing and managing catering and group sales to maximize hotel revenue. This role oversees client relationships, plans and coordinates events, and works closely with the Director of Sales to ensure successful execution of weddings, corporate functions, and social gatherings. Responsible for promoting hotel facilities, supervising event details, and maintaining the highest standards of guest satisfaction and professional service.
Excellent skill set to include verbal/written communication, problem identification, problem solving, time management and math competency skills.
Preferred Marriott CI/TY experience but not required.
Preferred Lightspeed PMS experience but not required.
Proficient in computer systems and functions (i.e., Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, web access, etc.) Use office equipment and supplies.
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
Must have flexible work schedule and work as required. Some nights and weekends will be necessary as well as potential holidays.
Represent the company in a professional manner with good judgment and in an ethical manner.
Average hours are 45 per week.
Must be able to organize time effectively.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Must have a valid driver's license and access to an automobile for outside sales calls.
Excellent hearing.
Able to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods of time/frequently to interact with clients and staff both inside and outside of hotel.
Must be goal oriented and self-motivated.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a thorough knowledge of business' sales practices, policies and procedures.
Represent the hotel with a high level of professionalism and good judgment.
Present and communicate hotel features and details accurately to clients and guests.
Develop and grow food and beverage sales and associated guest room sales in the segments of weddings, corporate and social events.
Coordinate and conduct appointments with prospective clients, showcasing hotel facilities, planning event details, recommending menus and meeting options, and organizing tastings to maximize revenue opportunities.
Develop profitable sales through outside sales calls, prospecting, and website searches.
Maintain consistent sales contact and positive relationships with assigned accounts and market segments.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date tracer files to ensure timely follow-up with clients
Prepare routine correspondence, action plans, reports, and contracts (including banquet event orders, sales contracts, booking reports, and call reports) in accordance with organizational policies and at the direction of the Director of Sales.
Research competitors and evaluate market conditions to provide insights to the Director of Sales.
Keep the work environment clean, organized, and professional.
Provide information to guests regarding business inquiries, catering events, group details, and hotel services.
Assist with the setup and decoration of banquet rooms as needed.
Consistently present a professional image through appearance, dress, and punctuality.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Participate in local organizations and attend networking events to promote the hotel and its outlets.
Contribute input to the hotel's sales and marketing plan as requested by the Director of Sales.
Achieve or exceed budgeted revenue goals for group sales, banquet food and beverage, audio-visual services, and meeting room rentals.
Perform additional duties, projects, and reports as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
Participate in weekly Leadership Team meetings, property MOD program, daily staff meetings, monthly department and safety meetings.
Follows safety and security procedures and rules.
Assist Leadership Team members and/or managers when needed.
