The Opportunity:

West Liberty University is seeking applications for a Maintenance Supervisor in Facility Services. The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the Physical Plant service operations at West Liberty University. This role is responsible for reporting, coordinating, assigning, and inspecting all maintenance issues within the Physical Plant. This position is also the documentation specialist. In the absence of the Director, Supervisor of Campus Services assumes the responsibilities and duties within the Physical Plant Department.

Essential Functions of the position:

• Ensures compliance with Department and University standards and applicable regulatory codes to maintain a safe environment for students, staff, and faculty.
• Supervises work, workorders and projects for all campus buildings.
• Identifies employee resources and expertise and utilizes employee experience and skills to plan, schedule, assign and perform duties and other activities of the trade's specialists.
• Meets with Director, Managers, Custodian Supervisor, Buyer, and others to ensure that the goals of the department are met.
• Maintains accurate records of blueprints, project documents, owner's manuals and as-builts.
• Serve as project lead on assigned projects and project liaison for contracted projects.
• Participates in identifying, recommending, and implementing opportunities for improved Trades Specialist services.
• Requisitions services, supplies, equipment, and materials to ensure efficient operations of campus or center.
• Oversee the work order system for data recording, communication, tracking work orders, etc.
• Ensures that workorders are completed in an appropriate and timely manner and closed or scheduled according to department procedures.
• Designated as "essential" personnel and responds to calls at all hours. Responsible for assessing, reporting, and advising the Physical Plant Director regarding the operational status of campus during emergencies and extreme weather events. Removes snow, de-ices, and clears walkways and steps for safety and protecting of university facilities.
• May be called upon to lead and/or participate in department and University wide committees.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Required High School Diploma.
• At Least 1-year supervisory experience in a directly related field.

• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, and other university departments.
• Supervisory principles.
• Standard maintenance practices, procedures, and techniques.
• Applicable laws, rules, regulations, and codes related to all work done on campus property.
• Inventory management principles and practices.
• Safety procedures.
• Resolving conflicts in an appropriate, constructive way.
• Using applicable tools and equipment related to area of assignment.
• Implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, and workflow.
• Utilizing computer technology for communication and data gathering.
• Communicating effectively through oral and written mediums
• Working as part of a team for consistent delivery of services and to meet established standards.
