Job Summary

We're looking for a motivated and detail-driven Manual Boring Mill Operator to produce precision metal components using horizontal and/or vertical manual boring mills. You will set up machines, interpret engineering drawings with tight tolerances, perform boring, facing, drilling, and milling operations, and verify accuracy using measurement tools. The ideal candidate is quality-focused, safety-minded, and committed to maintaining a clean, efficient, and collaborative shop environment.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate manual boring mills to produce precision components.
  • Read, interpret, and follow engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications.
  • Perform machining operations including boring, drilling, facing, and light milling.
  • Monitor machining operations and make necessary adjustments for accuracy, tool wear, and surface finish.
  • Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other precision tools to ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Maintain equipment, tooling, and work area to support safety, cleanliness, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve machining challenges and improve processes.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and craftsmanship.

Qualifications Required:

  • Minimum of six months of machining experience (manual machining preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with geometric tolerances.
  • Familiarity with cutting tools, boring bars, tool holders, and machining accessories.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and accuracy with measurement tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience operating manual boring mills.
  • Prior experience in a job shop or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Experience machining large parts or working with tight tolerances.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, and twist for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels
