Job Summary

The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for performing detailed structural design and analysis of overhead crane runways, building structures, and related steel and foundation systems in heavy industrial and mill environments. This role focuses on design execution—analyzing, calculating, and developing solutions that meet both engineering specifications and project budgets.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural design and analysis of overhead crane runways, supporting structures, and foundations
  • Use engineering analysis software, spreadsheets, and design tools to produce accurate, cost-effective solutions
  • Design in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications
  • Prepare and review drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with design intent
  • Check and verify calculations from other engineers for accuracy and completeness
  • Work within budget parameters to ensure designs are cost-efficient without sacrificing safety or performance
  • Coordinate as needed with customers, field personnel, vendors, and fabricators during construction and fabrication phases
  • Monitor and track engineering hours to maintain schedule and budget discipline

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong understanding of steel design, with working knowledge of concrete and foundation design
  • Proficiency with structural analysis programs, design spreadsheets, and AutoCAD or similar drafting software
  • Ability to review, interpret, and produce detailed engineering drawings
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • FE exam passed preferred; P.E. in Structural Engineering is a plus
  • Experience in an industrial or mill environment is preferred
