Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary operations. This role is vital in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our kitchen, maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary knowledge, and a passion for hospitality management. Previous experience casual dining environment is highly valued, along with expertise in food safety and inventory control. The Kitchen Manager will oversee daily kitchen activities, manage staff training and development, and ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet quality standards.
- Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, stock rotation, and minimizing waste.
- Supervise kitchen staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Ensure adherence to food safety standards and proper handling procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Utilize POS systems such as Aloha POS and Toast for order processing and cash handling.
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery in restaurant settings.
- Implement food production processes for catering, banquet events, or bar services as needed.
- Monitor budget adherence and assist with cost control measures.
- Conduct staff training sessions on food safety, customer service, and operational procedures.
- Lead by example in maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment aligned with hospitality standards.
- Participate in interviewing potential team members and contribute to staffing decisions.
- Manage shift operations efficiently to meet customer demand while controlling costs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in restaurant management or hospitality management roles with a focus on kitchen operations.
- Extensive culinary experience with skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food handling.
- Strong knowledge of POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS; cash handling experience required.
- Supervising experience in casual dining establishments.
- Familiarity with inventory control, budgeting, and food safety regulations.
- Leadership skills with a track record of staff training & development and team management.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
- Experience with restaurant management software and operational tools relevant to the food industry.
- Hospitality background including hotel or catering experience is a plus.
