A rapidly growing international market leader rooted in the Annapolis/Kent Island area of Maryland is looking for a top performing sales professional to fill their Naval Business Development Manager role. This key position is responsible for managing and strengthening strategic relationships established within the U.S. Navy and Defense industry, as well as expanding market share within the sector.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads naval and defense sales efforts by identifying, developing, and establishing business relationships with key personnel and program stakeholders
- Identifies, qualifies and pursues emerging naval and defense program opportunities
- Implements and oversees business strategies in conjunction with overall organizational goals and sales plans to build and defend market share
- Completes call logs, reports and data tracking within Salesforce system
- Educates and strategizes with internal and external customers on products
- Represents the company and attends events, professional seminars, and trainings
- Leads improvement efforts and executes processes to ensure customer satisfaction and continual long-term growth with shipyards, shipbuilders, and the defense industry
- Monitor and cultivate existing key partnerships within the industry through proactive planning and execution of sector strategies
- Collaboration with Naval and Defense team during the proposal process to generate a financially and technically competitive bid package
- Develop proposals with Naval Contracts Manager leveraging market knowledge
- Monitor market feedback on equipment performance and communicate information back to Sauer Compressors USA team for review and resolution
- Perform market research on emerging technologies and market risks
- Develop and execute on-site customer visit schedule with Manager
- Collaborate with Regional Sales Managers and Rental BD team as needed.
- Monitor and pursue Naval and Defense rental compressor opportunities
- Continental and Internation travel required to support duties (50% minimum)
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Naval Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related study (commensurate experience in the compressor industry in lieu of a degree is acceptable) or equivalent professional experience
- Previous experience working closely with defense industry contacts and reviewing government RFPs is strongly preferred
- Detail oriented with proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Salesforce experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience developing and nurturing business relationships with key industry personnel
- Team Player to collaborate with internal resources and knowledge bases
- Current Security Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required
- Strong leadership and communication skills, as well as an ability to proactively solve issues
