General Manager

Malarky's Irish Pub, a premier full-service restaurant and bar in Newport Beach, is seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead our high-volume operation. This is a hands-on leadership role for a hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment and knows how to balance exceptional service with operational excellence.

As General Manager, you will set the standard for hospitality, culture, and performance, leading by example on the floor, developing and motivating your team, and ensuring guests receive a consistently outstanding experience. A strong service background is essential, and nightlife or late-night operations experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of daily restaurant and bar operations in a high-volume environment
• Deliver exceptional guest experiences through visible, floor-based leadership
• Recruit, train, coach, and develop managers and hourly team members
• Drive performance through scheduling, forecasting, budgeting, and labor management
• Maintain accountability for service standards, food and beverage quality, and cleanliness
• Oversee nightlife and late-night operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and execution
• Manage inventory, purchasing, cost controls, and vendor relationships
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and company policies and procedures
• Partner with ownership and leadership to meet financial and operational goals

Qualifications

• 5+ years of General Manager or senior-level restaurant leadership experience
• Proven success in high-volume, full-service restaurant and bar operations
• California Food Handler Card and California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification required; must be obtained within a designated timeframe if not already current
• Strong guest-first mindset with a genuine passion for hospitality
• Nightlife or late-night bar experience highly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and retain high-performing teams
• Strong financial acumen, including forecasting, budgeting, and labor control
• Confident, professional presence with excellent communication skills
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events
• Highly preferred to live within a 25-mile radius of the Newport Beach area
