The SMT role is responsible for setting up and operating SMT equipment, performing in-process inspections, and supporting smooth, reliable production flow. You'll work hands-on with automated machinery, use technical knowledge to configure equipment, and apply problem-solving skills to keep the line running at a high standard.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up SMT equipment including screen printers, pick-and-place machines, AOI systems, and reflow ovens, ensuring correct programs, tooling, materials, and machine configurations.
  • Operate, monitor, and make routine adjustments to SMT machinery to maintain accuracy, placement quality, and stable throughput.
  • Perform visual and automated inspections to verify solder quality, component placement, and adherence to IPC and internal standards.
  • Use hands-on troubleshooting and critical thinking to identify issues early, correct them when possible, or escalate effectively.
  • Support and participate in root-cause investigations for defects, equipment irregularities, or interruptions in production flow.
  • Communicate with the SMT Lead, Engineering, and Quality Coaches to resolve issues and maintain consistent, high-reliability output.
  • Follow ISO 9001:2015 procedures and proper work methods to ensure safety, repeatability, and process control.
  • Provide real-time updates on equipment performance, material needs, and line status to keep production running smoothly.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; associates degree preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in electronics manufacturing is preferred.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to display confidence and positivity.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated integrity and commitment to behaving ethically and morally, showing consistency in actions, values, principles, and expectations in alignment with the organization's vision, mission, values, and pillars.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Regular to standing, sitting, use hands/fingers to perform daily assigned work tasks, and verbally communicate.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Infrequent lifting and/or moving up 25 pounds - 50 pounds; lifting and/or moving weights more than 100 pounds require the use of pallet jack.
  • Strong visual abilities required for close proximity viewing, color identification, depth perception, and ability to adjust microscope focus.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise level.
