The Milan Village School has an opening for a Special Education Paraprofessional to provide support in a small group setting, PreSchool to Grade 6. Our team is seeking an energetic, organized, team-oriented, flexible paraprofessional. The interview team is seeking someone with strong reading, writing, math, science and organizational skills who relates well with elementary age students. Applicants must be patient, able to follow instructions, follow through with consistent and positive interactions, and have a proven track record in prior jobs.

HolidaysSick daysProfessional Development AllotmentParaprofessional, Job Description Special Education ParaprofessionalAs a Special Education Paraprofessional within SAU #20, you play a critical role in supporting students with disabilities across academic, behavioral, social, and functional domains. This document outlines the essential duties and expectations of the position to ensure a shared understanding of your responsibilities. Your signature indicates acknowledgment and agreement to uphold these duties to the best of your ability throughout the school year.Primary ResponsibilitiesStudent SupportProvide direct support to students with disabilities, including but not limited to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disabilities, Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities, Speech and Language Impairments, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Developmental DelaysImplement instructional and behavioral strategies as directed by the supervising special education teacher or service provider.Support students in accessing the general education curriculum, individualized goals, and daily school routines.Reinforce academic content and functional skills in one-on-one or small group settings.Data CollectionAccurately collect and maintain data on student performance, behavior, and goal progress as directed.Submit data in a timely manner to supervising staff.Assist with monitoring progress toward IEP goals and behavior intervention plans.ProfessionalismMaintain strict confidentiality regarding all student information, in accordance with school policy and federal regulations (FERPA).Follow all school rules, policies, and procedures.Use professional and respectful communication with students, staff, and administrators.Demonstrate reliability in attendance, punctuality, and job performance.Student SupervisionSupervise students in classrooms, therapy sessions, hallways, lunchrooms, playgrounds, and other school settings as assigned.Ensure student safety at all times and support transitions throughout the school day.Assist with personal care, hygiene, mobility, or communication needs when required.CollaborationWork under the direction of special education teachers, therapists, and case managers.Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development sessions as assigned.Communicate observations and concerns regarding student performance to supervising staff, not to families or outside personnel.Other DutiesPerform assigned tasks that directly support student needs and IEP implementation.Remain flexible and adapt to changing student schedules and programming needs.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED (required)Demonstrated ability to support students academically and behaviorallyBasic understanding of child development and learningAbility to collect and record data accuratelyWillingness to follow direction and maintain professional boundariesPhysical ability to perform job responsibilities (e.g., lifting, assisting with mobility, etc.)
