Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Distribution Operations Manager to oversee and optimize our supply chain and distribution processes. The ideal candidate will lead warehouse operations, transportation planning, and logistics activities to ensure efficient order fulfillment, inventory control, and overall operational excellence. This role requires a strong background in supply chain management, process improvement, and team supervision to support company growth and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of distribution operations, including warehousing, shipping & receiving, freight management, and inventory control.
- Develop and implement process improvements utilizing Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Oversee transportation management systems (TMS), fleet management, and dispatching to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Coordinate procurement, purchasing, and materials management activities to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.
- Manage warehouse staff, supervising daily activities such as order fulfillment, inventory management, forklift operation, and warehouse distribution.
- Utilize ERP systems (such as AS400) and supply chain analytics tools to monitor performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and manage relationships with NVOCCs for international shipping needs.
- Prepare budgets, oversee demand planning, production planning, and supply chain analytics to align operational goals with business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a safe working environment across all distribution facilities.
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse supervision, operations management, or supply chain leadership.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Expertise in process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms like AS400 or equivalent enterprise systems.
- Ability to analyze supply chain data using analytics tools for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent leadership skills with experience supervising teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of freight logistics, shipping & receiving procedures, procurement processes, and fleet management.
- Proficiency in demand planning, production planning, budgeting, and cost control strategies.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate across departments including purchasing, dispatching, procurement, and warehouse teams. This role offers an opportunity to lead a dynamic distribution team while driving operational excellence through innovative strategies and technology integration. Candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of supply chain dynamics combined with strong leadership capabilities to succeed in this pivotal position.
Pay: $70, $75,000.00 per year
