About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Scientist to join our dynamic team and support Patreon's mission of empowering creators. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop product features aimed at enhancing creators' ability to monetize their memberships effectively. Your responsibilities will include conducting quantitative research to inform product strategy, designing metrics to monitor progress, and devising learning methods such as experiments to validate hypotheses. You will collaborate with machine learning and data engineering teams to build minimum viable products (MVPs) that are user-facing data solutions. Additionally, you will translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations and communicate your findings effectively across various levels of the organization, including executive leadership. As a cultural and technical leader, you will influence the data science team and contribute to fostering a data-driven culture within the company.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
- Extensive experience supporting product teams in making data-driven decisions
- Expertise in experimentation and strong statistical inference skills
- Proficiency in analytical thinking, asking the right questions, and interpreting data in real-world contexts
- Ability to balance speed and accuracy in analytical processes
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with Python or R for statistical analysis
- Proven track record of building strong relationships with product, engineering, research, and design teams
- Growth mindset with a focus on continuous learning and skill development
- Exceptional communication skills with a preference for clarity and simplicity
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop product features that enhance creator monetization strategies
- Conduct quantitative research to identify opportunities and inform product decisions
- Design and monitor metrics to evaluate progress towards goals
- Develop and implement experiments to test hypotheses and validate new ideas
- Work closely with machine learning and data engineering teams to build MVP data products for user-facing applications
- Translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders
- Communicate technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Lead initiatives to improve data practices and foster a data-driven culture within the organization
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to the growth of the data science team
