Job Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous Inventory Control Specialist to join our busy Chicago, Illinois warehouse. This role is pivotal in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our inventory, ensuring our logistics operations run smoothly. You will be responsible for monitoring stock levels, conducting cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and implementing strategies to minimize shrinkage. Your keen eye for detail and systematic approach will be crucial in managing our vast inventory efficiently. This position requires a blend of analytical skills and hands-on warehouse experience. You will work closely with various departments, including receiving, shipping, and operations, to ensure precise inventory data. Safety is a top priority; adherence to all safety procedures and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is non-negotiable. This role offers a great opportunity for individuals with a background in inventory management or warehouse operations to contribute to a critical function within our logistics framework. Continuous learning and process improvement are encouraged. The ability to perform tasks that may involve moderate lifting is expected.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure accuracy of stock records.
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies, identifying root causes.
  • Implement and manage inventory control procedures and best practices.
  • Monitor inventory levels and alert management to potential stockouts or overstock situations.
  • Ensure the proper organization and placement of inventory within the warehouse.
  • Process inventory adjustments, transfers, and adjustments in the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Track and manage returned goods and defective items.
  • Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to resolve inventory-related issues.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in inventory control or warehouse management.
  • Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Understanding of logistics principles and supply chain operations.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
