About Us Barkers is an award‑winning mid‑market and corporate implementation partner for Coupa, delivering first‑class solutions across a range of clients. The practice is growing rapidly and we are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to join our permanent team.
Job Purpose The Solutions Architect will lead the design, implementation, and management of technical solutions, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance. The role supports clients in enhancing their technology capabilities through strategic planning, solution development, and deployment, collaborating closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, provide tailored recommendations, and foster strong relationships. Exceptional communication skills, deep knowledge of Coupa, and a high degree of self‑accountability are required.
Responsibilities
Act as the leading authority on functional and technical deployment of Coupa for clients.
Handle all aspects of technical and functional design, configuration, and deployment of the platform into client environments, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
Contribute to the end‑to‑end client lifecycle, from initial proposals through implementation, project management, and platform embedding.
Bring expertise in all implementation components, including Coupa configuration, setup, and supplier enablement.
Conduct workshops and design review sessions to maintain alignment between clients and project plans.
Work confidently in a multi‑client environment, adhering to time‑bound project plans.
Provide technical and functional guidance to clients during implementation to ensure successful adoption.
Create and refine implementation templates, training materials, and presentations to promote knowledge sharing and best practices.
Apply implementation methodologies and industry knowledge to develop effective functional designs.
Share relevant experiences with clients and colleagues to encourage collaboration and continuous improvement.
Mentor and train team members on technical design, implementation, and best practices.
Support the creation and presentation of sales proposals to prospective clients.
Line manage staff as required, whether in the project lifecycle or on an ongoing basis.
Required Skills
Strong project management skills with excellent prioritisation and self‑organisation, familiar with project management tools and techniques including Gantt charts, RAID logs, regular client reporting, risk management and agile/waterfall approaches.
Ability to manage busy workloads in a multi‑client environment.
Support with pre‑sales discovery, scoping, and tender management to drive business growth.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
Strong collaboration and teamwork skills for cross‑functional environments.
Adaptability to evolving technology trends and industry standards for innovative solutions.
Current and up‑to‑date training, accreditations, and certifications in Coupa or other directed platforms.
Proven track record as a Solution Architect in designing and implementing Coupa solutions.
Deep deployment experience in Coupa modules of Procurement, Invoicing, SIM, and InvoiceSmash.
Deployment experience in other Coupa modules such as Sourcing, CLMS/A, RPMA/S, Analytics, and AI Classification is also welcomed.
Experience supporting or undertaking data migration (transactional and master).
Experience evaluating business requirements and translating them into technical solutions that meet needs.
Ability to lead functional, design, and architecture discussions with clients and partners to drive effective solutions.
Skill in mapping business processes to best‑practice solutions for efficient operations.
Proficiency in user acceptance testing, system integration testing, regression testing, and impact analysis.
Expertise in guiding or leading supplier enablement, including catalogues, buying channels, invoicing channels, e‑invoicing regulations, and models such as PEPPOL and Country Clearance.
Integration architecture expertise in REST, webhooks, cXML, PunchOut, and file‑based patterns.
Practical knowledge of integration practices with ERP systems including SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud ERP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Workday, Infor, and middleware environments.
Working Patterns
Barkers offers flexible working; the role is primarily home‑based.
Employees will be required to attend the HQ in Chorley, Lancashire and client sites on an as‑required basis.
The role requires the ability to commute within the UK and accommodate overnight stays when necessary.
Important Note UK‑based role only – non‑UK applicants will not be considered.
