Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled IT Support Specialist to provide comprehensive technical assistance and support to our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, managing computer systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure. This role requires excellent communication skills, a customer-focused approach, and a strong understanding of various operating systems and network configurations. The IT Support Specialist will play a vital role in maintaining system reliability and supporting end-users across multiple platforms.
Duties
- Provide technical support to end-users via help desk tickets, phone, or in-person consultations
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues across Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems
- Manage computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, and peripherals
- Assist with network configuration and maintenance, including LAN, VPN, firewall settings, and wireless connectivity
- Support IT infrastructure components such as servers, switches, and routers
- Use ticketing systems like BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, or Jira to document issues and track resolutions
- Configure and support software applications including Microsoft Office suite and other enterprise tools
- Perform software troubleshooting for applications and operating systems
- Maintain security protocols by managing firewalls, VPN access, and user permissions
- Collaborate with the IT team to implement system upgrades and updates
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies regarding data security and system access
Skills
- Proven experience in technical support or desktop support roles
- Strong knowledge of computer management, hardware troubleshooting, and operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Familiarity with network concepts such as LAN setup, VPN configuration, firewalls, and wireless networking
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other productivity tools
- Experience with IT support tools like BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, or Jira for ticket management
- Ability to troubleshoot software issues effectively across various platforms
- Knowledge of computer hardware components and maintenance procedures
- Understanding of IT infrastructure components including servers, switches, routers, and security devices
- Excellent communication skills with a customer service-oriented approach
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
