Job description:

Data Analyst – Job Summary

The Data Analyst will work between Judiciary business teams and technology/data warehouse teams to ensure business needs are accurately translated into BI solutions. This role requires strong SQL experience, excellent requirement-gathering abilities, and strong communication and coordination across technical and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to gather and translate business, functional, and data requirements into technical specifications.
  • Serve as a liaison between Judiciary business units and the data warehouse development team.
  • Document business rules, data definitions, and data glossaries to support logical and physical data model design.
  • Analyze raw departmental data and consolidate into meaningful business insights for the Unified Enterprise Judiciary System.
  • Create clear documentation, including:
  • Business use cases
  • Process and data flow diagrams
  • Business rules and mapping documents
  • Write complex SQL queries (DB2, AWS DynamoDB, Redshift) to support data validation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Partner with SMEs and QA teams to ensure test coverage and validate business requirements.
  • Participate in design sessions, demos, training, and stakeholder reviews.
  • Assist with production support and issue resolution.
  • Recommend implementation options with associated risk and cost impacts.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2–3 years of strong SQL writing experience (DB2 Legacy, AWS DynamoDB, Redshift).
  • High-level understanding of programming concepts (Java, Python, Pega).
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Keen attention to detail with ability to manage scope, resources, and timelines.
  • Experience influencing and collaborating with business and technical partners.

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years overall professional experience.
  • 2+ years as a Business/Data Analyst focusing on data governance or data management.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and JIRA.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Microsoft Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Google Docs
  • Data visualization tools (minimum 1 year)
  • Strong presentation and stakeholder-communication skills.
  • Track record of innovation and continuous improvement.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communicator with strong verbal, written, technical, and presentation skills
  • Hands-on experience with SQL technologies such as DB2 (Legacy), AWS DynamoDB, and Redshift
  • Proven ability to innovate and contribute new ideas and improvements
  • Experience working in a Business Analyst role supporting data governance and data management initiatives
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and JIRA (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Google Docs
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Strong presentation and stakeholder communication skills
  • Solid experience writing SQL queries
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent technical education
