Job Description: Cost Accountant / Staff Accountant
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Prepare and post journal entries to update and reconcile accounts, and support monthly close, in QuickBooks or new ERP
· Support Controller by maintaining Excel schedules for accruals, prepaid items, and amortization
· Review reports for backlog, production, and cost to ensure accuracy of revenue recognition
· Partner with Purchasing to ensure integrity of inventory data and cost tracking
· Coordinate and reconcile physical inventory counts and assist with reconciliation and reporting
· Maintain fixed asset ledger, record additions/disposals, and calculate depreciation
· Partner with payroll to record journal entries, accruals, and related reconciliations
· Assist Controller and external auditors with reports for their preparation of state and federal tax filings, business registrations, and compliance reporting
· Support insurance policy administration, renewals, and certificate tracking
· Provide support to the Controller and CFO for month-end close, reporting, and audit activities
· Support AP, check processing, AR, billing, and collections as backup or as needed
· Contribute to process improvement initiatives across accounting and the plant
· Contribute heavily to implementation of new accounting system
· Work closely with peers to share best practices and improve processes
· Gain exposure to cost accounting and KPI analytics
Required Skills/Abilities/Attributes:
· Strong understanding of accounting, cost accounting, and excel.
· Proficiency in financial report writing and the ability to communicate financial information well.
· Familiarity with various accounting software platforms in QuickBooks, Sage, or other system.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities in an unstructured environment while maintaining attention to detail.
· Possessing a collaborative team spirit, high-energy and positive outlook is very important.
· Proven experience in accounting roles, with a focus on manufacturing accounting a plus.
· Solid Excel skills – building pivot tables, writing formulas, developing charts.
· Good PowerPoint skills – developing presentations for Leadership and the Board of Directors.
· Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis is a plus.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
· Three to Five years of experience in accounting is expected.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to commute daily to Douglas, Georgia and work from office majority of time.
· Expect prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Pay: $56, $80,000.00 per year
