Job Title: Journeyman Plumber – Residential Generator Gas Systems

Location: Houston, TX
Department: Installation / Field Operations
Reports To: Plumbing Dept Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Plumber with strong experience in natural gas and propane systems to support the installation of residential standby generators. This role is responsible for installing, modifying, testing, and commissioning gas piping systems to ensure safe, code-compliant operation of standby power systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install natural gas and propane piping systems for residential standby generators
  • Size, route, and connect gas lines per manufacturer specifications and local codes
  • Perform pressure testing, leak detection, and system verification
  • Modify existing gas systems as needed to support generator loads
  • Coordinate with electrical, permitting, and installation teams during projects
  • Ensure all work complies with NFPA, local plumbing codes, and AHJ requirements
  • Complete job documentation, inspections, and as-built notes
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners regarding system operation and safety
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site
  • Participate in on-call or emergency response support as required

Required Qualifications

  • Active Journeyman Plumber License (state or local, as applicable)
  • Proven experience working with natural gas and propane systems
  • Familiarity with residential standby generator installations preferred
  • Strong understanding of gas load calculations and pressure requirements
  • Ability to read plans, schematics, and manufacturer installation manuals
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Generator manufacturer training or certifications (Generac, Kohler, Briggs, etc.)
  • Experience coordinating inspections with AHJs
  • Residential service or construction background

Pay: $ $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 45.0 per week
