Cable Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cable Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of telecommunication and network systems. This role requires a strong understanding of computer networking, electrical systems, and telecommunication equipment, with the ability to interpret schematics and work effectively with hand tools. The Cable Technician will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of our clients' communication infrastructure, supporting both residential and commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and troubleshoot CCTV systems, VoIP, Ethernet networks, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, and Avaya communication systems.
• Conduct network installation and configuration for telecommunication systems, ensuring optimal performance.
• Use hand tools and specialised equipment to repair and maintain telecommunication hardware and electrical components.
• Read and interpret schematics, technical diagrams, and wiring diagrams to facilitate accurate installations.
• Perform equipment repairs and upgrades on computer hardware and networking devices as required.
• Assist in the setup of telecommunication systems including Ethernet cabling, VoIP solutions, and network switches.
• Ensure all installations comply with safety standards and industry regulations.
• Document work performed accurately in reports or system logs for future reference.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.

Experience

• Proven experience in telecommunication installation or network cabling is preferred.
• Familiarity with CCTV systems, Avaya platforms, Juniper networks, Cisco routers, and Ethernet wiring is highly desirable.
• Hands-on experience with computer hardware repair and electrical systems is advantageous.
• Knowledge of schematics interpretation and electrical wiring practices is essential.
• Previous roles involving network installation or telecommunication system setup will be considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to use hand tools effectively in technical environments.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to follow detailed technical instructions accurately.
