Job Description:
JOB DUTIES:
• Responsible for overseeing the maintenance, preservation, and safe operations of all park grounds, landscapes, infrastructure, facilities, and equipment.
• Equipment maintenance, mowing, tree and vegetation care, weed control, litter removal, seasonal planting, prescribed fire, land, water and other resource management, lease coordination, etc.
• Maintain trails, roads, campgrounds, picnic areas, and other visitor use areas including the Oldsen Tract and North Addition properties.
• Oversee the application of chemicals following safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage the inventory of park equipment, ensure proper maintenance, servicing, and operation including the coordination of repairs and replacement within purchasing and budget criteria.
• Hire, train, and supervise full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff including schedules, task assignments, and monitoring performance.
• Collect data, maintain records, prepare reports, collect fees, and ensure staff/visitor safety.
• Conduct regular inspections of playgrounds, grounds, facilities, and machinery to identify hazards and mitigate risks while training staff on the safe use, handling, and response.
• Support special events, recreational programming, and visitor services.
• Contribute and communicate with the community and general public in the efforts of park development, strategic visions, sustainability, efficiency, and promotion.
• Related work as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in park/recreation management or a related field; (wildlife, fisheries, natural resources sciences, public administration, history, cultural resource preservation or interpretation, travel and tourism, and planning) AND two years related experience including one year in a supervisory or lead worker capacity. Related coursework/training and/or experience in park/recreation management or related field may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Other: Valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and interest in park management, principles and techniques of supervision, Nebraska wildlife, natural resources, and outdoor recreation.
- Horticulture and landscape knowledge.
- Clearly present and communicate information to varied audiences.
- Work and make decisions independently and as a team.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and administrative personnel.
- Drive and transport materials to different areas of the park and the surrounding tri-state area.
- Willingness to learn about the natural history of the Missouri River and Ponca State Park, shooting skills, kayaking, and share with the general public.
- Bend, stoop, climb, reach frequently; work outdoors; remain standing and/or walking for long periods of time.
